Promover Gênero e Consolidar a Paz: A Experiência Brasileira

Brazil’s actions internationally recognize the lasting effects that gender-based violence has on international peace and security. This recognition is identified through protection activities and technical cooperation projects focused on preventing sexual violence that are implemented abroad. At the same time, however, it is observed that Brazilian diplomatic engagement in this issue is still shy and gaps in gender equality remains.  These gaps are observed within three key groups: the military, the police and the foreign service. This article explores Brazil’s advances and shortcomings in this topic and will highlight how the country can enhance the United Nations women, peace and security agenda at home and abroad.
